Starting with loose leaf tea usually means buying a teapot, then guessing which tea to try first. This kit takes care of both. You get a small glass teapot with a removable infuser, and four organic teas from Ilam that cover the four main styles of tea.
Each one tastes clearly different. Himalayan Golden is a smooth, honeyed black tea. Annapurna Amber is an amber oolong with caramel and apricot. Pokhara Classic is a clean, vegetal green, and Ama Dablam is a soft white tea with notes of sweetgrass and gardenia. Brew them side by side over a week or two and you will know which style you like, and which one to reorder in a full-size bag.
The teapot holds 14 ounces, enough for two teacups. Lift the basket out when the tea tastes right and the rest of the pot stays smooth instead of turning bitter.
Everything You Need for Your First Pot
We picked these four teas because they are easy to brew well, forgiving if you over-steep them a little, and different enough from each other that you can taste why black, oolong, green and white tea are separate styles.

A Tasting Order to Try
- Day one: Himalayan Golden. Smooth and familiar if you drink black tea now.
- Next: Annapurna Amber, to see how an oolong sits between black and green.
- Then: Pokhara Classic, lighter and grassy.
- Last: Ama Dablam. White tea is the most delicate, so it shows best once your palate is warmed up.
Brewing Basics
- Black and oolong: water just off the boil, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Green: about 175°F, 2 to 3 minutes.
- White: about 185°F, 3 to 4 minutes.
- Use about 1 teaspoon of leaf per 8 oz cup, and try a second steep. Good leaf usually has more to give.
When You Find Your Favorite
Every tea in this kit is sold in a full-size bag, so reordering the one you like is easy: Himalayan Golden, Annapurna Amber, Pokhara Classic and Ama Dablam. You can also add a separate glass teapot for the office.
