  • Sandakphu Jade Green Tea - Asparagus | Alfalfa | Barley

Sandakphu Jade is a finely curled green tea made from tender hand-plucked leaves with a smooth and light-bodied liquor. This tea is meticulously crafted to have thin and wiry leaves that unfurl as the tea steeps. Rich vegetal notes of asparagus and steamed collard greens balance with light notes of barley, green peas, and alfalfa. This tea’s rich
and complex liquor can be enjoyed at any time of day.

One or two leaves and a bud are hand-plucked and brought to the factory. The tender leaves are allowed to rest for over 2 hours and then are jet steamed under perforated trays. The steamed leaves are immediately cooled by blowing cold air. Once the leaves are cooled, they are withered for around 4 hours. The withered and conditioned leaves are then tightly rolled for 30 minutes and allowed to rest for 15 minutes. The rolled leaves are then shaped and styled into their finished wiry shape. The leaves are then oven-dried at 110 degrees Celsius for over 1 hour. The dried leaves are hand sorted and packed for their final destination.
