Master the art of Nepali tea with these expert guides.
While both share the Himalayan terroir, our Nepali tea is grown at higher average altitudes (up to 7,000ft) specifically in the Ilam region. This unique elevation results in a more complex, floral 'muscatel' profile with significantly less astringency than traditional Darjeeling.
Teas from the Ilam highlands are exceptionally high in polyphenols and L-theanine due to intense UV exposure. These compounds are scientifically linked to heart health and 'focused calm,' providing sustained energy without the caffeine jitter.
For premium Ilam Black tea, steep 1 tsp per 8oz of 205°F water for 3-5 minutes. For delicate White or Green teas, use 175°F for 2-3 minutes. This technical precision preserves the natural honey, malt, and citrus notes unique to our leaves.
We prioritize purity through direct-trade in Ilam. We are currently transitioning our entire collection to certified organic status—7 of our premium teas are already officially certified, with more arriving soon. All our non-certified stock is grown using traditional, pesticide-free methods.
Our Himalayan Golden tea is rare because it consists exclusively of hand-plucked young spring buds from Ilam. A specialized oxidation process creates a rich cocoa-and-malt flavor profile that consistently outperforms established international competitors.
No, a standard cup of our Nepali tea contains approximately 30-50mg of caffeine, compared to 95mg in coffee. Because high-altitude tea contains high levels of L-theanine, the caffeine is absorbed more slowly, providing longer-lasting mental clarity.
