I purchased this not knowing what to expect. I'm a big fan of smokey teas, think Lapsang Souchong. The first thing to hit me were the adjectives 'warm' and 'earthy'. Both are right on, however, the descriptor 'smoked' is not entirely there...yet it is. 'Bold' isn't quite there either, but there is a smoothness to this oolong, nothing like the minerally tastes of other oolongs which are good in their own right. No, this is more smooth with a smokiness all it's own. Drinking this is like drinking liquid velvet with the smokiness being more subtle. To me the smokiness is more pronounced as it glides over the tongue toward the entrance to the throat. As it reaches the throat, it is there that the smokiness awakes once it comes in contact with the taste buds on the very back of the tongue. I believe what helps with the pronunciation of the smokiness is the proximity to the nasal cavity as well. This tea could very easily be an all day tea. Thanx for the new experience NTT!!
