Lhotse is a summer-picked, hand-rolled black tea from the Jasbirey village. It is the perfect morning tea with notes of toasted pecan, fig, and buckwheat. Its aromatic amber liquor develops notes of bran and red plum as it is enjoyed.
These rare organic artisan black teas are hand-rolled followed by mechanical rolling to give a fine twist, it is completely oxidized sometime over 26 hours at 6500 feet elevation. The constant flow of cold mist supplied by nature at this altitude makes the oxidation (natural fermentation) process extremely slow which allows a gradual change of Polyphenols to flavonoids (theaflavins and thearubigins) to the extent that it is almost equal in ratio. Once the desired color and nose (flavor) is attained during this natural oxidation process this tea is dried slowly and matured with time and perfection.
One teaspoon of tea per 8-ounce cup. Cool boiling water 1 minute, and steep tea 3 - 4 minutes. Tea can be steeped more than once.
Obviously high quality tea but a bit woody or twiggy tasting for my taste.
Dear Scott, Thank you so much for your feedback and your support to NTT. We truly appreciate it!
An enjoyably smooth tea. Not picking up the raisin flavor, but the pecans are definitely there as well as the maltiness. The smoothness of this tea conjures up images of a satin ribbon slide awaiting the drinker's journey into tea bliss. But for me, I'm still search for "that" tea........But for smoothness, this black can't be beat!!!
Hi Phil, We are so thrilled to know that you enjoyed our Lhotse Black Tea. Thank you so much for your great feedback and for the continuous support. We truly appreciate it!
Has a natural maltiness that feels like Chinese black tea, combined with a fullness of body. No astringency to speak of. Takes sugar well and resteeps nicely.
Hi Aaron, Thank you for feedback. We are thrilled to know that you enjoyed the tea!
It is delicious. I have had this since December but was running through some other teas I had already opened. This tea is so smooth! No bite at all...I love it. I am pleased to assist with fair trade items and the story behind this tea is inspiring! Highly recommend this tea.
This is one of my new favorite teas. The aroma of the dry leaf smells extremely good. The liquor tastes sweet, fruity malty with a hint of chocolate. I must say this is an excellent tea. M loving it:)
